CHANGES IN ECOSYSTEMS

There are different types of changes in ecosystems

- Changes caused by natural causes: changes in the weather, floods, forest fires, volcanic eruption...

- Changes caused by human activities: construction of buildings, planting...

                             FLOOD

                          FOREST FIRE

            VOLCANIC  ERUPTION

THE WEATHER:  FOUR  SEASONS
                               OF THE YEAR.

          HUMAN  BUILDINGS

                 HUMAN PLANTING

FOOD CHAIN

FOOD CHAIN IN ECOSYSTEMS

The food chain consists of three groups:

1) PRODUCERS
2) CONSUMERS
3) DECOMPOSERS

PRODUCERS

They make their own food (Plants and algae).

CONSUMERS

There are three types of consumers:

1) HERBIVORES:  they only eat plants.
2) CARNIVORES: they only eat meat.
3) OMNIVORES: they eat plants and meat.

DECOMPOSERS

They decompose dead organisms. Some examples are fungi and bacteria.

HABITATS

A habitat is a place with certain physical conditions:

- temperature
- types of rock
- etc.

COMMUNITIES

Communities are groups of living organisms.

ECOSYSTEMS

Ecosystems are formed by the communities of living organisms that live in a habitat and the interactions between them all.
