The Earth is divided into different systems:

The Atmosphere is the layer of air and gases that surrounds the Earth.

The Hydrosphere is all the water in the Earth ( in a solid, liquid and gaseous state).

The Geosphere is the densest part of the Earth, made up of rocks and magma.

MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH

1) ROTATION:  is the movement of the Earth spinning on its axis. It takes 24 hours (= 1day). It produces "days and nights".

2) REVOLUTION: it is the movement of the Earth orbiting the sun. It takes 365 days and 6 hours (= 1 year). It produces "the four seasons" (spring, summer, autumn/fall, winter)

Every four years, we have a "leap year", that means that there are 366 days instead of 365. This new day is added up to February, which has 29 days instead of 28.

MOVIMIENTOS DE LA TIERRA

1) ROTACIÓN: es el movimiento que realiza la Tierra girando sobre su propio eje. Dura 24 horas (=1 día). Da lugar a los días y las noches.

2) TRASLACIÓN: es el movimiento que realiza la Tierra dando vueltas alrededor del sol. Dura 365 días y 6 horas (=1 año). Da lugar a las cuatro estaciones del año (primavera, verano, otoño e invierno)

Cada cuatro años tenemos un "año bisiesto". Esas 6 horas de los cuatro años anteriores se juntan dando lugar a un nuevo día, que será el 29 de febrero. Ese año tendrá 366 días en lugar de 365.

MERCURY: it is the first (1st) planet from the Sun. It is a rocky planet because it is made up of rocks. It is a small size planet. It is between the Sun and Venus.

VENUS: it is the second (2nd) planet from the Sun. It is a rocky planet because it is made up of rocks. It is a medium size planet. It is between  Venus and the Earth.

THE EARTH: it is the third (3rd) planet from the Sun. It is a rocky planet because it is made up of rocks. It is a medium size planet. It is between the Sun Venus and Mars

MARS: it is the fourth (4th) planet from the Sun. It is a rocky planet because it is made up of rocks. It is a medium size planet. It is between the Earth and Jupiter.

JUPITER: it is the fith (5th) planet from the Sun. It is a gaseous planet because it is made up of gasess. It is a big size planet. It is between Mars and Saturn.

SATURN: it is the sixth (6th) planet from the Sun. It is a gaseous planet because it is made up of gasess. It is a big size planet. It is between Jupiter and Uranus.

URANUS: it is the seventh (7th) planet from the Sun. It is a gaseous planet because it is made up of gasess. It is a medium size planet. It is between Saturn and Neptune.

NEPTUNE: it is the eighth (8th) planet from the Sun. It is a gaseous planet because it is made up of gasess. It is a medium size planet. It is between Uranus and Pluto.
